B Mag 17 WSM Stock Availability?

I purchased a beautiful Boyd’s Walnut stock for a B Mag. It didn’t occur to me that the B Mag came in more than one action length. Naturally, it doesn’t fit. It’s not returnable to the independent dealer.

Who makes a traditional walnut rifle stock that fits a B Mag in 17 WSM? Apparently, it’s the red headed step child of the B Mag family.

The B Mag as far as I know is a dedicated action for the 17 WSM.....not long, not short, no other variations. Just the dedicated action. What variations were you offered to select?

Also, Boyd's will say "drop in".....but there is sometimes a little fitting to be done.

Yeah, the B-Mag is only ONE length and chambered in the 17 WSM only. I’m guessing you may have mistakenly purchased a Stock for the B-Series, which is different from the B-Mag.

What exactly is different, not allowing the Action & Stock to fit? Any way you could do a bedding fill & hand fit the Action yourself? Otherwise, yes, try Boyd’s. They list specifically for the B-Mag & B-Series separately. And there are only TWO versions under the B-Mag choices. Standard & Bull Barrel options. I’d go with the “At-One” in Pepper Lam. myself. That is a LOT of Stock performance for under $250.

It was an eBay purchase. Beautiful stock but made to fit the HMR and 22 mag. The distance between the magazine well and trigger is longer than the WSM. Otherwise, I would call them the same design.

I have been contemplating the pepper laminate, or maybe even the nutmeg.

The other stock gives me a good excuse to find a b series HMR.

That’s odd. The magwell should be SHORTER on a stock for the WNR/HMR, & LONGER one stock for a WSM. Being the WSM is the longest, most powerful current Rimfire. So what is it exactly that won’t fit? Could you modify to fit?
