@Alan– Unfortunately, due to ongoing health issues for both my wife & myself, have not managed to fire any of them for over 5 years, but have loaded scads of ammo in anticipation!
@hdskip – see pics & a little write-up. The fore end on the 6.5 Creedmoor stock is 3 1/2″ wide. I sourced the solid maple from an online source that caters to folks that turn bowls & such on wood lathes. They furnish pics of each piece available & the price.The fancier, the more pricey! (I opted for cheaper).
For the 204 Ruger, I utilized 4″ wide X 1/4″ thick maple cut to length that I needed. I coated the mating surfaces with epoxy resin tinted with blue pigment and let it cure before assembly. Applied the tinted resin again before clamping the pieces together to avoid squeezing most of the resin out, leaving attractive blue lines.
The cheek piece I fabbed from 4 oz. Fiberglass cloth. I placed wax paper over the comb of the stock, then applied 5 layers of cloth soaked with the afore mentioned blue tinted resin. Let cure, sand to shape, attach with stainless steel fasteners.
Barrel and Bolt Handle spray painted with Dupli Color High Temp Ceramic Engine Coating, works great, available at auto parts stores.
