Great deal on a rifle hardcase

I've got one of those as well, dedicated for my Savage 10TAC.. it's a great case for the price. In my mind, however, it does have some shortcomings... the latches are plastic, and don't lock down in any way. The pluck foam works great... for about the first 2 or 3 times you set the rifle in it. Then it starts to catch on everything and pull out. The inside of my case looks like a rabid honeybadger got hold of it and tore it up. It still works, but it's not the best setup on the planet. You get what you pay for.

Before I bought the HF case, I bought a Cabela's branded rifle case... exact same basic case, twice the price ($200.) The Cabelas case has metal latches that lock down, and solid foam that is a pain to cut, but once you get it cut... it stays that way. The rest of the hardware is just a little better than the HF box... the wheels are better, the handle is more rigid, etc. If I was going to fly with a rifle, this is the case I would use... I would not fly with the HF case.

At the end of the day, the HF rifle case is a great case, for what it is. It makes a fantastic pickup (or general travel) case for 1 or 2 rifles, and is a good value for the money.

I agree with you, Charlie. The HF case isn't the best, but for the price when it's on sale, it beats buying one of those cheap flimsy cases like Plano makes.
I've had some of mine for years, and while I don't care for the pluck foam, I've never had any issues with it coming apart after I fit it to one of my rifles.
