My elderly father came to own this rifle because someone needed some money in a hurry. It was a F series 270 Win with cheap stained wood stock, two piece bases, rings and scope. It was too heavy for him so I did a complete makeover of the rifle for him. I replaced everything except the barreled action minus the factory trigger. Here's what I replaced. New from factory black synthetic stock, Rifle Basix trigger, Leupold STD base with rings and a Swift Premier scope. He was able to take a nice 4 point with it before he quit hunting and eventually passing.
My son wanted his grandfathers rifle, but it didn't fit very well. I had the stock shortened to fit him and did another makeover of the rifle. Here's what I changed or replaced. I painted the stock black and gray tribal camo, replaced sling studs with nickel ones, swapped trigger guard with SS one, changed to a SS Glades Armory bolt handle with black knob, changed to a EGW pic rail, added nickel Burris Signature Zee rings and mounted an Athlon Talos scope. He hasn't gotten a deer with it yet, but his wife has.
