I was a Savage Shooters fan for a period of time that I learned a lot, or at least realized how much I didn't know.
Thanks for the kinship and recommendations.
I'm a break-action fan. Primarily contender and encore. Love the wildcats and as I get older appreciate the mid-range calibers more
Maybe I'm just tired of getting beat up by recoil... rifles moreso than handguns as my wrist and elbows are effective 'McPherson struts' for detent of rearward thrust

Another fugitive from the old forum .
I know how you feel about recoil, my shoulders have developed issues where hard kicking rifles aren't fun any more .
Still shoot my big bore pistol and revolvers a lot now .

I, too, have found that as I aged, I started to have more and more problems with recoil.
Maybe it is just me getting further and further out of shape.
Welcome.
I think you will find a lot of regulars from the old Savage Shooters family are also here.

There's also newbies who are happy that you've found a way to reconnect with folks you knew, and look forward to new opportunities to learn.

I've been tempted to get an Encore (among a whole list of other lusts), but also to see if I could just design and machine a replacement barrel assembly for my Henry Single Shot. The barrel is currently just welded onto a locking block, which is itself held in by a pin, and so if I could create a new single-piece block with Savage threading, then while not quite as convenient as the T/C system, it would offer Henry folks the ability to change barrels and retain the Henry action.

In the meantime, the Encore seems like a great idea that just hasn't taken off as well as it could in the USA since folks are more akin to just buying another rifle rather than swapping barrels the way Europeans apparently do because they've got different limits when it comes to firearm ownership.
