I have a 338 Win mag made in 2007 and measured the barrel right in front of the barrel nut and I am getting around 1.036. And the barrel nut measures 7/8. ONE-TEN Well-known member Joined Mar 3, 2026 Messages 1,055 Tuesday at 10:38 PM #2 The picture you posted is a Small Shank. Thread size Small Shank is 1.062”x 20TPI, and Large Shank is 1.125”x 20TPI. And yes, the 7/8” long Barrel nut is Small Shank. Here’s a comparison.
