Hello all,

I've been a Savage owner over 20 years. I started with a prewar model 99R and have added several 10/110's. I have changed the barrels on over half of the latter. Just picked up this mint 114 in 338 Win Mag the same day my Shilen barrel arrived in 300 Win Mag. Most of my model 10 serial numbers start with a G, but this model 14 starts with a J which I'm guessing was made in the last 10 years. I just don't recall a top bolt release, matte finish, hinged floorplate, and an oil finished stock in the catalog in the last decade but I could be wrong. I look forward to learning more about Savages and showing off my builds.

That’s a fine looking 114. Yes, definitely last 10years with a serial# starting with J. You can call Savage to find out proper date. No charts past 2013 & “H” serial numbers currently online. Anywho.., glad to have you onboard.

Magnums are for TN whitetails lol. The pictured 338 Win Mag was purchased for the stock and action. I wanted an accurate 300 Win Mag with a wood stock that wouldn't break the bank. I won the model 114 at auction and ordered an in stock Shilen barrel from Northland and had them cerekote it graphite black.

also, about you not seeing this before? It’s because there two different Model 114’s. The 114 Classic & the 114 American Classic. Yours is the 114 Classic, with the Monte Carlo Stock. The American Classic had a straight stock. And depending on year, there available with high luster lacquer & Bluing or the flat oil finish & matte barreled Action you have.

Thank you, it's starting to come back now. I'm guessing this one would be considered a model 14 American Classic even though it just says Special Order.

Yup! That is an American Classic. Then, one year, not too awful long ago, they made THIS 114 American Classic below.

And while the the one you linked is polished Bluing metal & luster shellac finish wood, with BBR & smooth barrel nut, others are matte finished metal, oil finishes wood, with TBR & standard grooved barrel nut. Again, depending on year.

Also, you may see some websites with this Savage listed as a 114 American Classic, but in fact, this is the 110 American Classic. Released not too many years ago.
