Central NC Savage enjoyer

Off and on Savage owner since the late 90's.
have owned three different 10/110 target/varmint guns, one of the Stevens branded bottom eject shotguns, and a newly inherited 97 customized by my dad.

from central NC, and now am looking for info on current Gen savages, and also looking for a new range to shoot at.

My younger son lives in semi-rural NC slightly south east of Fayetteville.
I have found two pretty nice ranges east of I-95 near Cedar Creek.

surprisingly, it's one of the ones in his safe that i actually have the least interest in* and am likely to put on the "sell" pile.

*I never warmed-up to the 17HMR. and of the two 97s dad restocked, this one isn't the really pretty fancy walnut stock out of the "bargain bin" from Richard's Microfit, which became a gift to my cousin, who uses it as a varmint gun around his farm. It is instead the one he used hobby plywood, bondo, and metalflake krylon to turn the factory stock into a pseudo-benchrest unit. it wasn't his most visually appealing work... so it and the (AFAIK) unfired Axis II that was his last purchase, that he bought purely so that he'd finally have a .243 before he died, are probably going to be the first to hit a consignment shelf as I have no use or interest in them.

I'm much more attached to the 10/22s that he did stocks for, re-barreled, etc. esp. since one of THOSE is built on a 2nd year of production receiver and I still have all the original parts, including the "coin-slot" magazine (that one isn't going anywhere!)

it's a bit out in BFE, (as in i used to live in the next county over and it seemed out in the middle of nowhere even then) but, Frontline Defense out near Warrenton has long range facilities and is reasonably accessible. open to the public on the weekend, members only weekdays.

I don't currently use them because i don't have a rifle setup that would justify heading out there.
