Emblem Identification Query

Hello, I'm a 20 year old student conducting a conservation and research project on this object found at a site in Colonial Williamsburg, VA. The object in the photo is roughly 1.5 cm in length, is slightly curved, paper thin, and has what I believe to be remaining epoxy on the back side. Before I clean this object, I would like more information on it, if possible, which has lead me to this forum. I would appreciate any information at all, but I am hoping to identify what it is, what it's use was, determine whether it was attached to a gun or a piece of merchandise, and estimate a date range for its production (and I assume it has some age to it, given the old logo and where it was found).

Hmmm, interesting. So, I doubt it was fixed to a firearm, being it’s the traditional Indian Head logo, with a rifle underneath. It looks like a decorative plate that would be fixed to a Savage commemorative Case, or Box; packaging of some sort. However, I’m sorry, I don’t know. I’ve never seen one.

It’s likely pretty old though, being a Sterling pendent fashioned of the WILDLY RACIST “Indian Head” motif. LOL! Oh, I mean, Native, Indigenous person of color, head.

(That was a joke btw.)

Thank you for your response! I actually got a response from Savage Arms after putting in a historical request and it is most likely a medallion that was attached to a firearm. Since my first post I have found multiple instances of similar medallions on the handles of newer revolvers from Savage, but given that this medallion depicts a rifle, I would wager that it was on a weapon of that type. I still have no date, but I’m hoping to make some progress on that front soon.
