MDT is now claiming their Chassis do not fit the 2026 110 Action. My guess is it’s due to the new Accutrigger design. The Gen2 Accutrigger uses a redesigned housing.

Looking at the two, the Gen1 Accutrigger uses a simple sheet metal frame housing, compared to to the Gen2 Accutrigger, which appears to use a Cast housing which is taller & wider. Especially at the 2nd attachment point on the 2026 version. That part looks like it would sit on top of the chassis, keeping the Action from seating.

We know already the Action screw spacing is the same. So I believe it would be simple modification for those of us who are DIY savvy. Unfortunately, MDT can’t sell like that without disclosing that 2026 Actions aren’t compatible. Does anyone here have a 2026 110 with the Gen2 Accutrigger, as well as an older model in a Chassis that can verify?

Will the fit with the Rifle Basix Savage 2 trigger?

Nope. The SAV2 won’t work. Not sure about about the Sav1, Timney or others which are just the trigger, but I know the ones with Housings, like the SAV2, Bix’N Andy & Jard won’t work on the 2026 New Style Recever.

Just another reason why I am slowly moving away from Savage and into a R 700 platform. I can still get prefits and the aftermarket for parts and accessories that for a 700 are almost endless. I have a 110FP that Savage will not service with parts of any kind because it was made prior to 1995. They're moving in the wrong direction as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, well I happen to like the Accutrigger. A tuned Accutrigger (by someone who actually knows triggers), gives every bit the performance of any other trigger. And I am fond of the 2-stage “like” feel it delivers. As for parts, once the Savage Rig is built, barrel changes every 2.5K-8K+ rounds is virtually the only part needed. Except, of course, for broken parts. And they are easy enough to source.

Anyway.. I’m not worried about parts running out & not being available. And I’m close to 50yo. Still, you absolutely have the right to use whatever you wish. Anyone who prefers a Dime-A-Dozen, BORING Arse, Rem 700.. go for it.😂 Here’s a great forum for you to start on.

go online and try sourcing parts for a flat back Savage action. Try Numrich Arms. Try Savage customer service. VERY few parts available for rifles produced before 1995. Savage doesnt even have part #s for them. I searched high and low for a rear baffle for a 110FP with no luck. A nice man from here kindly sent me one from a round top receiver that got me back in action, but the fact is Savage is abandoning the older rifles sorta like the auto industry is with older vehicles. Bums me out, cause I really like the engineering idea with Savage rifles being completely modular in design.

Well, there is no significance of 1995. The Flat Back Receiver was used until 2003, when the Round Back was introduced; coincidently, along with release of the Accutrigger. Yours was made during the time that ALL cartridge choices were in LONG Action only.

I understand what you are saying, but you DID locate a rear Baffle fairly quickly. As a used part. They ARE around, which proves my previous statement. But yes, I get it. Fundamentally, we are in agreement. However, the Savage 110 has, for quite some been a preferred rifle of DIY, home Gunsmiths/Firearms Builders. Myself, for instance. I do not buy new Rifles. I source Actions to build as I wish. And although I prefer the round back Receiver, if I had a Flat Back needing a rear Baffle, I would simply mark & grind a round Rear Baffle flat! (As I mentioned in your thread) And though I have the tooling, to mill/grind a part flat, a file & sand paper will do the same, just slower. Both the Flat & Round Rear Baffle are essentially the same part.

But yes, we agree that Savage makes too many changes. The Pre-2026 Accutrigger model was fine, imo. It also was the long produced version, devoid of any changes. Running strong from 2003 to present. And it’s still being made and used in a few models, such as the 12 & 110 Target & Elite Precision models. All using the Large Shank receiver with Gen1 Target Accutrigger. (Red Blade)

Yes I did. A nice member here gifted me one. My point was I had to use a round one because Savage doesnt support the 110FP built prior to 1995. I called Savage twice and spoke to 2 different people there and got the same line from both. The company changed ownership since the rifle was built and both told me they dont even have a list of part #s for anything prior to that yr. I found that incredible that they couldn't even locate an exploded parts diagram for anything prior to 1995, but it is evidently so. Savage referred me to Numrich Arms who while they do have the diagram, had no parts. Good luck finding a bolt head too as it is of a different length than the new ones for a 110 LA and seems as rare as my flat back rear baffle is.
I do thank the kind man who gifted me the baffle. I could mill the top off flat, so it looks like it belongs, but hey, it functions as is so I won't bother.

It’s not 1995. The Flat Top Receiver was made up to 2003. ‘95 is included, but that year does not signify anything. You are relying on Savage reps, who know very little about the very company & products they sell. LOL! While I love the Savage 110, I have no hope for the people running & working for the company. 😂

You are wrong about the Bolt. They are the same. The Long Action for a 1995 is the same length as one from 2000, or 2010, or 2020! The Savage Long Action has never changed length! For instance, here is an older Bolt asy. for a Flat Back Receiver. It’s fairly old as it still uses the Spade type BAS. This could be used in a modern 110 Long Action.

That's a tough spot to be in with a rifle you clearly still want to shoot. Losing factory support over a cutoff date like that would frustrate me too. If you do end up building out the 700 what's first on the list a barrel or the chassis?

Here’s a better example.

Below is an older LA Bolt Asy. Flat Top Rear Baffle & Spade type BAS, so could be from the 70’s, early 80’s.

And here is a more a more modern LA Bolt Asy. Round Baffle & Hex type BAS.

These two above will fit either YOUR 110 LA or a newer, Round Back Receiver 110.

The only difference in terms of compatibility, comes with a Pre-1966 110 Bolt Asy, like this.

Well, that’s just it though Alan. Paddy is simply incorrect on several points. Parts ARE available. 90% of the parts are compatible between a 1966 & 2025 Long Action Receiver. In fact, even a Bolt Asy. from the new 2026 Action would work in HIS 1995 Flat Back 110. It’s really only the trigger which has become incompatible. But manufacturers will remedy that situation.

It was all about the date my rifle was made and the fact that it was made BEFORE the company changed hands. If you call Savage customer service for parts, the first thing they ask is the serial #. As soon as I gave them that # they said sorry. Nothing available. While that action may or may not be made up till 2003 is irrelevant as far as SAVAGE IS CONCERNED. Don't believe me? Try this. Call Savage customer service and ask for parts. Tell them you're lookifor a rear baffle for a M110FP in 308W. When they ask for the serial # give them my # which is F416178. Then post back with what they tell you before you say I'm full of it. They wont sell parts without a serial #. Some parts, like bolt heads, even if available, they wont sell you at all and will only install themselves.LOL

Paddy, I understand what you are saying. And I don’t doubt it. I absolutely believe Savage told you all that. I’M telling you that Savage is WRONG! For years I’ve been telling Savage owners NOT to call Savage customer service if they have a problem. As in a place like this! YES! People like myself know a HELL of lot more than they Savage Reps! I’m telling you YOUR rifle is compatible with all modern parts up to 2025.

Shoot, if you want, mark your Rear Baffle with a scribe, where the Flat receiver is and send it to me. I’d be happy to mill it Flat, paint it flat black and mail it back to you for free. So, I get it, and understand that Savage is telling you these things. I believe you. But they are wrong! Regardless of what they tell you, 1995 has no bearing on anything, the Savage 110 Long Action has been the same length & have used compatible Bolt Assemblies with each other, going back to 1966! And even with these new 2036 “Core” Receivers, 90%+ of the parts are still compatible. Between Gun Shack with NEW parts, Numrich with some NEW & many USED parts, and now, JA Outdoors with many parts including Bare Actions, the parts availability is better than ever! Saying the opposite of any of these is simply untrue.

Dave, While I like the Accutrigger, it still is far behind when it comes to using a great trigger. I have two SSS Competition triggers in my old flat back rifles - 110 FLP & 12 FLVSS, and run Trigger Tech Special and Diamond triggers in all of my custom action rifles.
The Accutrigger just can't run with these trigger's - even the Target model after tweaking it as far as you can.

Savage just can't leave stuff alone. They always try to reinvent the wheel, and try to update their image. In the process, all they do is piss off the people that have always enjoyed using their actions to customize their own firearms. As well as make a large majority of the aftermarket stop making or not changing their products to fit Savage rifles after each styling change every couple years.

That's the reason most aftermarket support is for a Remington 700 type action. Savage will never learn!

You aren’t telling anything I don’t know. LOL! I’m not carry water for Savage, the company. I am simply a fan of the model 110, for what it is, and its history. Once again, fundamentally, we agree.😊

And triggers are nothing new on me Tx. I’ve used the best. And yes, they are nice. My Point was about on target. Take an Accutrigger at 1lb., and a TriggerTech Diamond at 1lb. You won’t be MORE accurate, or even consistent, on target, with the TriggerTech. If you are, then you truly SUCK at TriggerTech control. Simple as that. A fancy TriggerTech does as much more overall accuracy, as a SMOOOVE Bolt does! LOL! Honestly, so much of the trigger nonsense is in people’s heads. Ya spent $300 on it, so it must be better. Right? 😂

Also, you’ve never felt one of the triggers I set up.😉

Well I did call Numrich first along with every gunsmith shop within 150 miles of my home looking for one layingin a bin of parts. Nothing there, so I called Savage. Im happy with the way the round baffle works and am not gonna modify it as that would just weaken it. My whole point was once Savage changed ownership everything went south. They wont discuss even selling a pr of action screws without a serial # and if that # was issued prior to the changeover they got nothing even if another gun uses the same screw. You could ask them for an action screw from a new round top 110 and the first thing they're saying is what is the serial #. So if you need a part that you KNOW will fit yours, go to a gunshop and write down the serial # of that gun to use when you call Savage. Without one, they're useless and won't help at all. Its like when you go to the auto parts store and the moron behind the counter cant find a set of plug wires for a 65 283 Chevy v8 and you know the 327 used the exact same set, but they cant find them . LOL

LOL! Yes. We agree that Savage CS is about as useful as a One Legged Man in an ARSE kicking contest!

But there is no reason to look for parts based on serial#. 110 owners in need of a part, or answer to a question should come HERE! Of course Savage isn’t making parts for models they no longer make. They don’t Model 99 parts either, btw. And, I promise you, modifying the Rear Baffle would not weaken it to a failing point. There is no load on the top surface.

But I agree with you about the Rem 700. You should definitely switch over completely. I even gave you a link to Rem700 Forum to help you on your journey.👍😂
