Week #1, 100yd, IBS Official 100 YD Hunter Target. 20 shots, Round Robin
Rifle, Savage 110 Switchback action with Shilen 28", 4 groove, 6ARC. Load; 105gr Berger Hybrid over 2837gr LVR, Rem 7.5 primer, Starline brass.
Weather conditions; 14*, wind 4/5mph L/R, Bright sun.

Was cold enough that even wearing knit finger mittens my fingers got cold enough that I had to pause after each 5 shot round to warm them. Also had to stop numerous times as my glasses kept fogging up when I would get behind the scope!

Targets look same as the official match targets CBA uses just a different layout.

Thanks a bunch. Being as I am also the league manager this year I was getting stopped quite frequently. Which also may be a good thing in that it helped slow me down and take more time.

Trust me guys, at that temp the fingertips get cold quickly. A couple years ago, one of the girls that was shooting with us received mild frostbite to her trigger finger.

In all honesty, we have shot in temps down to Zero. They keep telling me this is the reason it is called a "winter league".

Yes, she completed her target and did well. It actually looked like a burn on her finger. Healed completely as far as I know.

Week 2, 200yd IBS Hunter.
temp. 23*, wind trailing @15mph, broken clouds.
Target 1, shot in red was actually a sighter which was aimed at the lower left sub bull in the S Target. Was also the first shot.

Week 4 target; Cold Bore, 100yds. 58*, wind trailing/switching @ 12mph, broken sun.

First 2 shots must be one each, cold bore at the two orange center targets. Next, top two targets each get 3 shots. Must be break the dark grey ring or better, All-or-nothing.

Next two middle targets, same as above, shots must break the black ring or better

Last bottom two, same. must break the red ring. Each of the 8 targets are worth 25 points.

Week 5, 200yds, MRAD. 31*, Headwind 6mph. Bright broken sun, high mirage.

6 outer targets, 2 shots each. white bull = 10, Red = 9, blue/white = 8.
Center target, one shot into each colored quadrant. Not counting red bull, rings score 10/9/8. If more than one hit per quadrant, higher score is deducted. The Catch! The center target must be shot from the weak side!

In this instance, the one shot on the center target that was missed, outside, was my first shot and was an AD! Left finger not used to pulling a trigger!

Week 6, 300yds. 58*, trailing wind 16mph with 22mph gusts. Thin clouds

Simple target, 1 shot into 4 colored circles, 4 shots into each color quadrant. Rings scored 10/9/8 not as marked 8/6/4. Also, each of the circles to the 8 is counted as a bull.

KMW1954 - That's a very interesting target style. It reminds me of the 50's & 60's TV test pattern. When a TV station sign off the air at night they displayed an "Indian Head" test pattern. Your target resembles the old test pattern.

Week 7, 100yds, 36*, headwind steady at 14mph with gusts to 22mph. heavy overcast, little mirage.

Sub-targets can be shot in any order. Large subs top and bottom. 3 shots. Small .250" dots top and bottom only one shot. Its value is 10 points, shot just needs to touch to count. All other sub-targets receive 2 shots. Red dot bull = 10 points. Scoring rings are 9 and 8 points. Size, small dot again is .250" and the small two-color next sub size is MOA, 1".

Week 8 squirrels. 200yds, 36*, wind and weather conditions same as week 7. Was shot after moving to 200yds from 100 yds. 6 outside solid targets are one shot each, right side must be within the target, left side must contact the target. 10 points each target. Seven shots on each squirrel target, 10 and 9 point rings.

The three left hand targets are 2" MOA sized.

Ah man! I haven’t fired my Savage in some time now. I’ve been building an AK after a long time away from them. I’m missing the Savage though.

The kicker for me this week. I spent too much time shooting the week 7 target and by the time I moved and got set up on the 200 yd range I only had 15min to shoot the squirrel target! I didn't want to put it off another week as I will already be a week behind next week because I have to go out of town.

Friends, here are the last two weeks of the season's targets. I concluded in 1sy place with a score of 1700 of a possible 2000.

Week 9 Target shot at 300yds. 61* trailing wind @ 18/22mph very switchy from right/left, left/right. Heavy overcast with previous heavy rain that morning. One shot into each side of the lined circle. The top and bottom post circle the bullet must touch the post to score. The 2/14, 6/10 circles measure 1.25" between the dividing line and outer circle.

As you can see my score was 110! the high score on this target was just 150.

Week 10, two targets, one at 200yds and one at 300yds. This target was shot right after the week 9 target and the weather conditions were unchanged.

That variety of targets is really cool! I'd imagine that really stretches your capabilities towards broad spectrum competence with your rifle.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with capability or prowess in shooting. It’s simply a change up from punching holes in paper.

Same reason people prefer gongs. Steel Gong is interactive. Shoot round, & listen for the hit, a returning
TWA-Wack-Bing! Especially at longer distances, we get such a kick out of it because of the time delay.

Just a private local league that has been established at our range. Is not supported nor controlled by the range. We make the rules, we select the targets.

Thank you for the clarification! Didn't even think of it in that perspective. Dave, as long as you can still shoot, you would be more than welcomed in our group. Yes, it is competitive, but more so, it is supposed to be fun.
