Stock clear coat

So I had a stock that just had the original dull finish on it, and I wanted to refinish it. Read over on Accurateshooter about using Spraymax 2K. This stuff is literally auto clear in a spray can! So I just had to try it out.

I wet sanded the stock and added 3 light coats of the Spraymax 2k to it and let it dry overnight. The next evening I wet sanded that with 2000grit sandpaper and then added a final coat of clear. I let that dry for a couple days, then wet sanded again using 2000 grit, then buffed and polished it.

It is not perfect, but I have to say the pics do not do it justice. The green really pops in the sun.

Gun is a staggerfeed single shot short action with a Lumley Titanium bolthandle and carbon knob, Sav2 trigger, Wilson/Urbanrifleman 6br barrel, and a NF NXS 5.5-22x56.

It looks great. I usually use tru-oi or polyurethane on wood stocks. I'll use clear spray on polymer.

I have a strong preference for hand rubbed Tru-oil on traditional wood stocks.

I redid my 10/22 stock. The factory finish didn't show the wood grain well. Before and after.

Some factory finish need some more love. They're hiding the beautiful wood grains, which is a shame.

I bought the stock used but am pretty sure it is a Sharpshooter Supply stock.

It’s a benchrest stock, however I use it for long range varmints from my swivel shooting table. The flat bottom really helps stabilize the gun to allow me to see the impact.
