Savage 110 Rimfire

Yes I posted a thread about the same thing, Some negative comments. Glad you posted this up. Thanks you.

Yeah, last few days. And there’s video. But nothing on Savage website or US market. Maybe it’s an Overseas, European thing?

Honestly, I can’t see it. The 110, as fond of it as I am, in my opinion is a horrible design to lend itself to a Rim Fire. It’s Centerfire Action, through & through. It’s too large in all the wrong places for a Rim Fire. And so many parts would need redesigned that it would only be a 110 from a basic outward appearance. I honestly can’t see how ANY of the 110’s parts could work. I guess we’ll see.

22 Plinkster was shooting some impressive groups @100 yds with one. I love the 110 concept. Barrel nut = easy premium prefits and I like the bolt with it being adjustable for throw and that it locks up tight like a centerfire.

I love my Savage Rifles and actions that I have built off of. About 6 years ago I bought the rather inexpensive 93R17GV 17 HMR and took to Montana on a yearly Pdog hunt. I had a blast with that little rifle. Since then I have purchased other 17 HMR's and a Savage Bmag 17 WSM. Recently in Wyoming on a windy day ( always in Wy.) a buddy lazered a confirmed kill at 242 yards with the 17 WSM. Thus my interest in the Savage 110 RF. I would love to see Savage expand that rifle into the other rimfires ( 17 HMR and 17 WSM). I could see barrel makers spinning up custom match grade prefit barrels just like they do for the Savage 10's and 12's. Granted we are talking about the 17 HMR and 17 WSM that the ammo manufacturers are NOT making match grade ammo for but anything to improve the accuracy would help. Come on Savage take the next step ! A guy can wish.

I like the idea. That would make cartridge changes rather straight forward. The action should support LR or WMR. HM2 or HMR. Maybe WSM. I guess the magazine would be the barrier if they limit it to 22LR.

I think it will. In a bolt rifle, I think about the only difference would be chamber. In a blow back semi auto, bolt weight and recoil springs come into play.
