I posted this at the end of my other thread. But thought would be worthwhile to make a new thread. For a couple reasons actually.

I finally found a picture of the new 2026 110 Action stripped & showing the redesigned Accutrigger.


It’s easy to see by these pictures, that this NEW Accutrigger is quite a bit different from the pre-2026 Accutrigger shown under it. It’s now attached with TWO pins, the original pin in front, and I’m guessing this is a roll pin I circled in the rear. The new trigger design has also eliminated the sear tripping & locking up due to side loading the trigger without depressing the safety blade. So no more of that mess! Overall, it looks like a decent upgrade. I’m a bit excited.



One thing, that larger picture is from this. Off of the Timney trigger site. Apparently, the current aftermarket trigger replacements will not fit this 2026 Action. Man! That sucks for
Bix’n Andy trigger. 😉

I like my old Savage 3 screw trigger better than any version of the accutrigger
 
For me I will definitely not be buying a gun with that action and trigger. The older one work fine and all the aftermarket stuff fits it.
I know Savage could care less about the aftermarket parts, but the constant changing just hurts that market and those of us who love to upgrade our rifles. I will stick with the older model.

How exactly did they “eliminate” the trigger tripping with sideways movement on this new trigger? That’s what the safety blade is supposed to do?

Wonder if the target accutrigger will change as well?
 
No, the safety blade doesn’t eliminate side load tripping. It causes the trigger to lock up.

If you look closely at the picture I posted, it’s easy to see how this design STOPS side loading. The addition of the bar doesn’t allow the trigger to move unless the safety blade is depressed first. Good design. And I already see how to modify for precision.

The Target Action is the same. It hasn’t changed.

Have you ever experienced or know of the issue with Accutriggers locking up, if the shooter presses one “side” or the other, without pressing the Safety Blade first? Thus causing tripping of the Sear. (I’m using the word “Load” meaning “To Press” & “Tripping” meaning “Sear Dropping”.)

THAT is Side Load Tripping the Accutrigger.
 
It usually will happen when you turn the trigger pull adjustment spring to its lightest setting(or close). It is more prominent on the target trigger and the varmint trigger due to its lighter pull weights. If you wiggle the trigger you will see all the sideways slop it has in the hanger. Trigger shims will usually take care of this issue(or atleast minimize it).

Ah so that's what's it's called. Better explanation than I could've asked for. Thanks for explaining.
 
I have experienced side tripping when only the safety blade is pressed towards the side, but that has only happened to me when the trigger was set very close to its lower limit.
For me the trigger settings get close to the lower limit after thousands of rounds of shooting.

When the trigger was reset back to about 1/2 a lb., the side tripping didn't recur.

Yeah, I apologize. I’m glad Pdog caught that. In all honesty, it hadn’t even dawned on me that some Savage enthusiasts might not know. Then his post made me think more & I realized most don’t even like the Accutrigger. So why would they have heard that term or any like it. 😂 But thank you. I’m glad my explanation was better understood. (Some information still gets twisted around from the traumatic brain injury I suffered. So I’m not always positive my explanations make complete sense.) I always jokingly tell people, I’m retarded.. but only HALF! 😂

Yes, thank you CF. That is most common. The main issue with the standard Accutrigger is the Safety Blade Spring is too heavy, imho. The trigger return spring can be adjusted light enough, as to make the Safety Blade Spring heavier. So even when depressing the Safety Blade straight on, the whole trigger will move which releases the Sear. That is the situation you are likely experiencing. The only other way is to depress the trigger from the sided, without touching the safety blade. (Side Load)

We don’t see this as much with the Target Accutrigger with Red safety blade because the Safety Blade Spring is quite a bit lighter than the standard or Varmint Accutriggers. Whenever I was modding an Accutrigger for someone, replacing the Safety Blade spring became important to me. Like the pics below.


 
I have arthritics and my trigger finger is bent at the last knuckle so I can't pull straight back. I will lock the safety blade 3 times out of 5. I sometimes use my middle finger and when at the bench, just pinch the trigger between my thumb and index finger on my left hand. I use shims and that helps.

Not something I normally recommend, but since you have an issue with the blade because of your finger, you could just remove the blade and use it like a standard style trigger. It will work fine but you would just lose the safety feature that the blade provides and I would not recommend setting it to its lightest pull weight.
The one issue with doing this is you will be able to feel the slot in the trigger where the blade used to be. It can be annoying, but a little epoxy or something will smooth it out.

I don’t expect it to feel any different from the Gen1 Accutrigger. Although anyone using the Gen2 will surely notice the lack of it locking up. However, I’m sure with something like my custom setup, they can quite nice!

I have 3 Jard triggers in Savage actions , no accutriggers at all.

As Pdog pointed out, the factory side-play greatly exacerbates the issue. I started making my own Titanium shims several years ago. They provide exceptional reduction in side-play. And greatly increases the trigger feel & response.

I made this bearing tool to turn the shims to the correct size.


Turn baby TURN!
This is how we turn small parts, when room for a proper lathe is out of the question.😉😂
