110 tang differences

I purchased a stripped long action it’s new with target port. If that matters. There is distinct difference between the slot the button rides in than my other actions . It’s not as wide. The button that normally rides in the slot is to wide. I’ve never seen this. Is there a different style button for the narrower slot.?

Does it look like this? With those distinct lines on either side?


Or like this one, without those lines?


Also, are your other Actions newer or older 110 Actions? Are they Accutrigger, or NON. ROUND back for FLAT back? Pictures really help.

My actions are all round back Accutrigger the new action doesn’t seem to have the lines in the photos you posted. All parts installed fine except for the button. It’s to wide.

I purchased a stripped action. Not sure if it was a trail hunter. The slot the button goes in is to narrow and or the button is to wide. I ordered the button from gun shack. I’ve taken apart and reinstalled these buttons a hundred times. This action is different. Crazy. I bought the stripped action from jaoutdoors. I had all the other parts. I’m really at a loss. Trigger installed as it should. I know the button goes in before you install the trigger group. Just doesn’t fit… I appreciate you trying to help for sure!

Ahh, you got the stripped Action. Yeah, helps to know everything. I’m thinking maybe they got some weird Actions. I don’t have a rifle in front of me, but every picture & video I can see, it’s the same button.

Is it the underside of the button that too large? What exactly is too wide? Because everything I’ve seen, it’s the same size button. Can it be filed maybe.

It’s the under side of the button that’s to wide. Can’t feed it into the action slot.. if I filed it it would remove the slide grooves that keep it in place. A real head scratcher!!!!

Even looking at this pic of yours, it’s the same width slot as my Action. Which is a non-hooded. (No target port) Short Action from 2008.

Again, here’s yours next to mine. (Well, overtop) And trust me. Mine is old. It only looks great because this was taken right after I sand blasted it.



But those two slots look the same to me??

We all do that. I almost sent my gun to Fred once because when I installed a new 22.250AI barrel the bolt wouldn't extract an empty case. I must have installed the barrel four or five times before I figured out that I was setting the headspace with a 243 case instead of the 22.250AI case.

How about this one: Who has ever taken their bolt out & not realized they de-cocked it. Then wondered for at least a minute or two WHY in the HELL-o it wouldn’t go back in the Action all the way??

After 20 years of shooting Savages, changing barrels, triggers, etc, I couldn't explain to someone how to reinstall the safety button. I take pictures before and after, stare at it, and still can't get the button back in position. Suddenly, it will drop into position and work as designed. I don't know what the voo-doo is. You're not alone in trying to figure it out.

It’s just touch. You know what it reminds me of? Has anyone ever taken apart a Ruger MKII pistol? Pulling the Mainspring Housing at first seems impossible! Until someone demonstrates it & you get the feel.

There are some disassembly/assembly procedures in firearms in which the parts must move & contort in seemingly unnatural ways. Main thing is no matter how long you’ve done something, NEVER feel bad with a momentary lapse in procedure. We are only human. And everyone can use some help now & then.
