Al, sent me this way from the Firearms Talk forum. I've been shooting and handloading for the past 45 years. Managed to pick up a few nice Savages along the way. The last was a Savage 110 Elite Precision in 6.5CM.

A nice shooter right out of the box ... It loves Hornady 153gr A-Tip bullets, burning a little Varget.

Looking forward to some good conversation and watching this forum grow.

Welcome from Missouri
Looks like my kind of toys.
I have a Model 12 Long Range Precision in 6.5CM with a Leupold MK3-HD 8-24X50 TMR-P5 Scope.
My Model 12 has the H&S Precision Stock and the Target Accu-Trigger.
At 600 yards on a calm day a pop can on end is not real safe.

Welcome aboard, @IndianHead. That 110 Elite Precision is a great pickup and it sounds like you’ve got a dialed-in load already. Glad Al pointed you this way. Thanks @CoalCrackerAl. Looking forward to your input around here.

For me, Varget is worth every penny.
Not many powders are so temperature tolerant. A change of 30 degrees F only changes velocity by about 1 fps.
About 2 fps would change Optimum Bullet time by 0.001 msec.
With temperature sensitive powders, velocity would change by about 37 fps.
I load for Optimum Bullet Time to get improved accuracy.
Having velocity change significantly as temperature rises or falls eliminates any chance of maintaining the Optimum Bullet Time I loaded for.
