The real reason they broke was improper heat treat. They had several batches in that time period that were too hard. Heat treat of parts were sent to an outside source at the time. I got this info right from the head engineer at the time, Carl Hildebrandt

I have an old flat back long action with everything you need. If you go with a standard bolt head. 1999 or newer you will have to file down the notch in the bolt body to accept it. Does your old head have a notch that mates with the bolt body?
