Choice of brass?

When I started loading 6 Dasher the only available brass was Peterson & Alpha. Lapua 6BR would work, but with powder/bullets and primers at a premium I didn't care to have to fireform it. Not to mention the extra barrel wear.
I went with Alpha. After 7 loading the pockets are still tight. It shoots in the .2's consistently.

With consistent results like that, there is no reason to be concerned about changing brass suppliers.

I've shot Lapua brass in my match guns for years and Norma brass for my varminting rigs. I recently built a couple of 6mm ARC AR-15s (Wifezilla's deer gun and my night rig for coyotes) and couldn't find any brass except for Starline, so I bought a hundred cases.

I resize all my new brass, trim them all to uniform length, deburr flash holes, check/ream primer pockets, etc. then I weigh and sort them. This starline brass impressed me with it's consistency

Here's the Starline brass sorted for weight after my normal prep. 101 cases and 73% fell within 0.2 grains of the 109.2 grain median. The extreme spread was 1.6 grains this compares very closely to the best Lapua brass that I have checked.

Here's some new Winchester 243 brass that I was prepping at the same time. 100 cases and 58% fell within 0.5 grains of the mean of 157.5 grains and the extreme spread was 4 grains. I had to sort using 1/2 grain increments here because the brass was so bad.

ive popped pockets before on alpha, so wont use that anymore.

I dont think anyone makes better brass than Alpha Munitions. My problem is they won't make any 223R cases.

When it comes to loading precision rounds, I’ll use Lapua, Alpha & ADG brass ONLY. My 223 & 7.62x39 can be anything. But I prefer NATO brass for my 223 & Starline for the 7.62.
