Got the 110 Long action back to shooting.

Well it has finally come together. 110 Series K, originally a 7mm Mag, is now a 7 PRC. Proof carbon fiber barrel, MDT Oryx chassis, an EC tuner break and an EGW 20 MOA rail.
The leupold 8.5-25 x 50 and Warne one piece base were in the safe so that’s what it’s got for an optic.
First impression is I like the gun but don’t like the recoil. From a folding plastic table, the best groups I got was between 3/4” and 1”. Can’t wait to shoot it from a concrete bench or prone to see if those groups improve. Also have a Banish 30 V2 suppressor in the works and that should help with the recoil.
* If you plan to mount a similar older 110 in an Oryx chassis, plan on modifying your magazine. It may have been wise to have a gunsmith open up the back of the action and I can always do that later if it is determined to not be a safety issue.

I dig rocking the old school Leupold Mk4 scope. I wanted that very scope for a new number of years.
As for recoil: The 7 PRC. is a Magnum cartridge, regardless of what might be thought. As such, it’s going to have Magnum recoil. Especially being a lighter rifle. Going further, you are already using a $200+ Brake on the end and the recoil still bothers. I doubt a suppressor is going to do that much more.

Modifying the Action for AICS mag is fairly easy. A qualified machinist doing it will look the best, but anyone handy with a Dremel, files & sandpaper can achieve the desired effect.

That area must be rounded & smoothed accordingly.

Not going to reduce the felt recoil with the suppressor over that EC tuner brake by much, so I'd be looking at better recoil asorbing buttpad options.
One good feature of the Mk4 scopes is the generous eye relief.

Nice looking rig.
Good to see another Savage in an Oryx chassis.
Solid, stable, and with enough spacers to get the added pull length for a larger shooter.

Hope it works well for you.

It might take a few sessions to get used to the different set-up, but I found that my 6 Savage target rifles shot more accurately in MDT chassis.

So I went out this morning and got to shoot this 7PRC. (Sighted in last Sunday.) Target explanation goes like this; Upper right corner starts with two and those 4 that have 2,4,6,and 8 are corresponding to the tuner break adjustment. When I hit eight the first two shots were touching above the line. Tried to turn it into a five shot group but I am not that good of a shot. The orange target to the left was a nine shot group after the barrel cooled down. I pulled the lower right one and subsequently said some choice words. The others are my 6ARC 105’s and 108’s. First 10 or so shots through that barrel after the new bolt face. I think the gun is capable, I just need to find a load it likes. My buddy says all his 7mm’s tend to shoot best around 2900fps. I am averaging 2866 with factory 180 ELD Match. Figuring out the combo it likes is a large part of what I like about this kinda fun.
