I have been competing with a 110 Action that was a 6ARC Switchback that has been rebarreled with a Shilen 28" Match Select 4 Groove barrel. With this I have been firing Berger 105gr Hybrid over LVR powder ignited by Remington primers. This configuration has been shooting excellent.
I have had a box of Berger 95gr VLD Target sitting on the bench for over a year. I finally decided to give them a serious try and not just a cursory try to see if they shoot.
Loaded up 10 and started with the same charge as I have been and then with 3 rounds .3gr lower and .3gr higher charge and also loaded to the recommended length Berger lists. Shot these at 100 yds just for effect. Results were slightly below what I was getting with the 105s. Figured, OK they will shoot well with a little work.
Then recently I was gifted about 7.5lbs of H335. Loved to receive it.
Back to the Berger load data I go. Hound the 95gr VLD listed along with data for the H335 powder. Time to get serious.
Start load was listed at 25.1gr with a max of 27.6gr. I started at 26.1gr and worked up to max in .3gr increments. This concluded with 5 loads. Also did a seating test to find length to lands. Which was so long there was very little bullet left in the case so I pushed it back .025".
Shots from L-R 26.1, 26.4, 26.7, 27.0, 27.3.. Each is 3 shots at 100yds, round robin. The center is 5 shots with the 105 Hybrid I have been shooting; bottom is the 105s, leftover bulled bullets
