Top is in 338 Federal with a 26" Shilen heavy sporter barrel and the bottom is in 284 Win with a 30" bull Shilen barrel.

Very nice! They look great! Congrats on the your first! Fun, isn’t it?

30” Bull, eh? That is a lot of barrel! I did a Criterion 28” MTU Barrel a couple years back, and it’s a beast! But 30” full Bull… Yikes!

Funny, I never really noticed how long the forend was on those Choate Stocks. My 28” looks longer to my eye. But it’s just illusion. Mine is also a Short Action, which adds to the illusion. 😊

You picked two goodies IMHO. Good luck with them and good shooting.
I can't wait to hear how the mew barrels perform.

From my experience, it might take a session or three to figure out what the new barrels really like.
But with my two new Shilen's, it was more me learning that a very accurate barrel requires the shooter to aim more accurately and position themselves more consistently to get the best out of the more acccurate barrels.
Both my .223 and my 6.5mm CM Shilen barreled Savages are now shooting 0.215 MOA and 1/4 MOA, respectively with all their groups, even my screw-ups.
