I live south of Spokane so missed the devastation many, many people suffered. The numbers keep changing but as of yesterday reports indicated 750 structures were destroyed and 65,000 people had been evacuated. All because of an arsonist who, thankfully, was arrested 2 days ago.

Spokane Rifle Club (SRC) was founded in 1917 and where I compete with the local chapter of the Cast Bullet Association in 100yd benchrest. The club literally sits next to the Spokane River, can walk to the bank from the parking lot and 200yd range.

It's gone, everything burned to the ground except the 3-walled block wall bldg for the pistol range. Above the range there's about a half mile road, Rifle Club Rd, lined with nice homes I drive past them to reach the gate to SRC. They are all gone and many, many more.

As of this morning the 3 fires, Old Trails (includes SRC), Fairwinds, & Autumn Lane are over 10,500ac.

Another arsonist set fires north of Spokane on the Colville reservation where the Spokane Arm meets Lake Roosevelt. For those who don't know, Lake Roosevelt is the impoundment created by Grand Coulee dam. That arsonist was captured on security cameras and the manhunt is on. The fire destroyed a tribal resort and small buildings, the resort housed a small casino and restaurant both of which have been closed for some time. A small pizza & sandwich shop across the highway also burned to the ground. Known as the Mitre Rock fire it has burned 4,295ac and is 0% contained.

Sad to hear, especially when they were deliberately started by an arsonist. Of course our USFS policies on forest management and controlled burns thanks to the tree huggers and environmentalist groups hasn't helped matters any over the last 100 years or so.

Very glad you escaped any harm or damage my fellow Barrel Nut Bro!👍😉

Shame for some individuals.. But…in reality, it couldn’t happen to a more WOKE-Liberal city..well, unless it was Seattle, or San Diego, or Portland anyway.

Something Interesting to note: The last decade alone, has had the majority (4), of the 10 WORST Wild Fires in the United States. And it has certainly seemed more fires are happening the last several years, than any other time throughout my life.

Spokane is nothing like Seattle, Portland, or most anywhere in CA. With the lone exception of Whitman county, and that only because of WSU in Pullman, all of eastern WA votes red in elections.

Late yesterday I received an email from our match director that had some pics of the range attached. The initial info I got was not 100% accurate. The block wall for pistol range is gone, strangley, 2 wooden storage sheds and all of the 200yd wooden benches are still in perfect condition. The wood target backers at the 100yd range are still there including the corrugated plastic backers.

The trap and skeet structures all look untouched as well. I'll see if I can extract the pics.

The range is closed. Road access to range entry gate is closed to non-authorized vehicles as there are still active fires in Spokane. Additionally, residential areas that burned and deemed safe for property owners to inspect are just now being opened for them to survey damage and search through the ashes - entrance to these areas is ID verified only.

These areas area all still under emergency management control.
