So savage has changed their Action yet again. They are back to only ONE Action for LA & SA. (I do not have the length between the Action Screws yet.)

The Action itself is Hooded, and they have changed their outward appearance somewhat.
Here is the Trail Hunter compared to the Core Tactical. So, I’m not sure what’s going on because the standard long & short actions are still available. Once again, they are really confusing things. And what are they doing? Trying to look like Tikka? What is the point of the different styling on the outside of the Action?

110 Trail Hunter

110 Core Tactical

However, we see the same the old Bolt Release/Sear is the same. Likely the same bolt Bolt Lift. So, what are they doing?

Again, here it is in the non-hooded style Action. But still has those unique styling accents.

At first I was thinking it was to strengthen the Action. But after careful examination, I don’t believe that’s the case.

I’m hoping someone who buys a new one can take it apart & get us some pictures. Apparantly, the Accutrigger can no longer trip from side loading. And this guy in the vid says it’s a “drop in trigger”. But I see the same Savage Bolt Release. Maybe it is different though. Gotta wait until someone starts taking theirs apart to look at, and get some pics.

I wonder if they're doing the same thing that GM did with the Corvette in trying to compete with Ferrari and other mid-engine supercars, instead of having overlap with the Camaro.

When the movie originally came out, Cheech's beat up Impala with a mismatched door was supposed to be part of the joke. Nowadays though, with both the "rat rod" culture and "classic cars as investments", his car carries a totally different vibe.

Changing features that don't change functionality but make "last year's model" look distinct has been a trick in marketing for decades to help drive new sales for all sorts of things. Cars will have different colors or trim features available, making the old model look "dated", and so folks want to buy the "new thing" to keep up with the latest and greatest.

So long as Savage doesn't break their modular compatibility, it's frequently just part of playing the game, but it can also be a sign of bean counters gaining more influence in order to drive more sales.

I want to see one. (Apart). I’m wondering what the Action Screw length is now? And the video claimed the trigger is now “Drop-In”, and allowing other manufacturers drop in triggers. Articles are calling it the Accutrigger Gen2. And we’ll see if they did anything noticeable for Bolt Lift. I’m skeptical. 🤨

Honestly I don't care how they look as long as they shoot as good out of the box as always. So far I have 4 Axis rifles and they are all sub MOA shooters. I'm waiting for later in the year when the come out with the 110 Core Hunter in 22CM in left hand. That will be my next one.

Uh-Oh! We have another “I don’t care how it looks as long as it shoots.” I think I’ll leave it be.😊

Hope you like replacing barrels every 700-800 rounds. (Medium loads). It’s more overbore than a 22-250, and it’s a notorious barrel burner. The 22CM can only be worse. Hey….hey! You like .224” Calibers? Here ya go. Compliments of my guy, P.O. Ackley.

The .22 Eargesplitten Loundenboomer!

I see your 22 and raise...er...lower you 17! 🤣

Can you explain "new"? When was this change made?

They have been producing the Target Receiver for a while. Target receiver defined as the hooded oval ejection port. I have one in a 110 Switchback model and the trigger is the same bottom bolt release and the action screw spacing is still 4.4".

The Target Receiver is also offered in the Precision models and the Precision Elite.

My 6ARC also incorporates the same front baffle as the 223.

I’m not talking about the target Action. Anyway, these aren’t “Target” Actions. The Trail Hunter does not use a Target Action. It’s a Carbon Steel hooded Action with a target port. But you need to look closer at the images I posted. It’s very clear they changed the outside appearance for 2026. There is a line on either side of the newer Action, vs the older Trail Hunter. And the video from shit show I linked said that now it’s just one Action for BOTH LA & SA cartridges.

I’m not sure exactly what’s happening as I don’t have one of these new 110’s. That’s why I’m asking if anyone with one can measure it. All this is brand new. The Savage website recently changed. Many of the older rifles are gone now, replaced by this new Action.

Dave, the 22 CM is Overbore but you can get 1200 - 1500 rounds before groups really open up. My custom action 22 CM easily produced 5 shot groups in the high 0.1" range on a new barrel, and still shoots in the 0.3" range with 1k rounds down the tube. And my loads are upper limit loads.

Barrel's are consumable items to me, I buy two at a time!

You think 22 CM is different? It’s following the same trend as the 6.5CM; everybody & their brothers are getting them. And much like the case with the 6.5CM, we are getting all sorts of INTERWEBS takes of the 22CM’s “Other Worldly” performance. How it runs faster & jumps higher! LOL! Yeah, people like shiny new things.😂

Personally, I’d stick with 22-250. Actually, better yet.. I’ll just stick with 223, because 22cal is reserved for my AR. My Savage is for .264/6.5mm. And no, not Creedmoor. Mine is chambered for 260AI. That is pretty “different”

Hence the reason for my questioning. At this time I am unaware of this change and this is the first I have heard of it. Now my interest is aroused and will also do some searching. Thanks!

I gotchya👍 Chime in if you find anything. This is bugging me. I’m almost wanting to go to the nearest gunstore that might have them just to see, get some measurements off it. But being disabled, and not driving gets in the way of that at the moment.🥴Lol!

But here are the most detailed images I could find. I’m speaking of differences to the Action only here. And my main concern is size. Are our Stocks/Chassis still going to fit?
The first is a 110 TrailHunter that has been out for several years now. The second pic is the new 2026 110 “Core” Tactical. Can see the lines on the Action which I can only guess are for aesthetics.

I circled the “lines” in red.

The restyling is also part of the NON-hooded Action only the 110 “Core” Hunter. It has an Open ejection port, instead of the Target port.

And those styling lines redesign are on the BOTH sides of the Action.

So the Savage 110 now has I believe 4 different designed Actions. And possibly now 3-different Action sizes. But I really hope not on that last bit. It’s like Savage has different bosses ALL doing their own thing. (OY-VEY! No wonder I only buy USED 110s.)

From those pictures it also appears to be a change in the mag release. From the front Axis release to the rear AICS type release.

I'd never heard of a 260 Rem prior to purchasing my 12FV in 6.5CM. I'd heard of the 22-250 and even contemplated building a 22-250AI, but chose 22CM instead. Those two were the first rifles I added in decades.

Didn't own a .264 or .22 centerfire rifle in 2017, nor a .35, 7.7, 7.65, or .45 (three different versions) as I now do.

Thank goodness we have choices to tickle our fancies, whatever they may be, and that those choices can be as different as each one of us.

I love my Savages. I believe i have 5 or 6 of them right now and every one except my 308 is shooting sub MOA. The 308 is getting close. Just a bit more load tweaking and I'll have it. So like I said I don't care how it looks (configured) as long as it shoots.

So it seems they are making the 110 more confusing by trying to make it more simplistic..lol If that makes sense.
If it is truly one universal action screw spacing on the new action, my guess is it will be 4.8” just like the universal Axis length has been.
To be honest they’re making the 110 look more like the Axis. First the magazines are now the same, then the hooded action, now a universal screw spacing…Makes you wonder if they will eventually phase one out?
Dave, I’m with ya in wanting to go to a store just to measure it…lol

Seriously! The problem is, those of us who live to tear these things down & rebuild them with different parts/whatnot, will likely NEVER buy one of these new. (Or anytime soon when used.) And those who are purchasing them aren’t qualified/don’t feel comfortable even removing the Barreled-Action from the stock! I’d already have started combing stores just to measure, and check the Accutrigger, but I don’t drive. Being disabled, I’m stuck home most of the time. But this is really bothering me. I almost want to say the guy on that video has it wrong. Like maybe he was confused. (As most of these commentators are, lacking any TRUE firearms knowledge.) But I just don’t know.

One thing I’ll say, in videos of operation, it does seem that bolt lift is not quite what it has been for many years. So, perhaps it was remedied?

I agree. I pretty much won’t buy a new Savage from a store unless it’s a really good deal. Mainly because I know I’m eventually(or immediately..lol) tearing it apart to make it something else. Although I did get my son a 400 legend Axis 2pro for Christmas, but that’s for him. I will be replacing the scope though. But not ruling out a future stock change..lol

It is now a rear AICS release built into the trigger guard, thumb operated. I have the new 110 Core Predator and if you guys need something answered let me know.

That’s a good thing. But use a Chassis anyway which all use the standard AICS mag. (The ONLY mag anyone should use!)

I happen to have the Savage short mags in 3 different rifles and like them. Both the push button and the older flex clip. With all of them I can load much longer than the 2.260" mag length.

I was referring to using AICS mags over factory. OAL wasn’t part of the topic, but cool.👍😊

Casper, two things? Are you able to measure between the centers of the Action screws? Looking to know if the size and f the Action is different.

Also, are you able to pull the barreled Action from the stock & take a few pictures of the Accutrigger?

I'll try to measure it Dave, as far as taking it apart you're talking to a newb. I don't have a way to torque it back to spec unfortunately. Here is the first YT vid review I've seen on the rifle that goes into some trigger change talk though. if that helps.

No worries pard. I wasn’t sure of knowledge.🙂 Actually, that video answered a good bit about the trigger. Thank you for linking that. So we know they DID change the Accutrigger. And the mounting to the Action.

If you are able to measure between the Action screws, center to center, that would still be super helpful.
As is shown in this picture.
