Bucks in velvet

The bucks on my farm (N. Kentucky) are starting to grow

I didn't get drawn for pronghorn in Wyoming, even with 9 preference points so I'll have to shoot a whitetail. I'll take whatever Wifezilla, my daughters and my nephew leave for me.

Bachelor groups are starting to form here. Mostly velvet nubbies right now. Odd season. Only one pregnant doe seen. Finally saw a fawn a couple days ago.

I've seen more single fawns than twins this year. Usually, a lot more does have twins here.

Man! Try to keep track of that 1st 4x4. While I’m not much for headgear on a buck, his body looks huge! LOL! He looks like COW with a set of antlers!

Although I don’t know the laws for hunting in Kentucky. Here in PA, if a hunter just wants the meat (like me), it’s never a problem. We get 1-antler & I think 6-doe on the permit. And can buy additional stamps for Doe. Huge difference from my time in Arizona. One & DONE! Antler only. No Doe whatsoever!

Here in my zone in Kentucky, I'm allowed 1 antlered deer and unlimited antlerless deer. Other areas have one, two or four doe limits and some of the military bases allow two bucks.

As the landowner, if I hunt on my own land, I don't need to buy a hunting license or deer tags.

Looked out the living room window and saw this buck at the salt block, 1/4 mile away.

Twenty minutes or so later, this guy shows up.
