Came a long way in a little time

Yeah 17HMR is not a round that you want to just blast away with. But it's fun to set up clay's and shoot them at 300 yards. I have 2 rifles in it. A Savage 93 bull barrrel and a Ruger American. 22 mag i have 2 also in rifles. A Marlin and CZ 457. I also have revolvers in 22 mag.

A very underappreciated rimfire since the little necked down zipper rimfires came out. I love 22 maggies.

I find CCI Varmint to shoot the best in my WMR'S.

It was a good day at the range. Thing 2 zeroed in about 10 rounds. Thing 1 took a few more, but when all was said and done, it was a one-hole shooter. The great thing about the scope on it is that it's an FFP, so after the parallax was adjusted and the magnification was set to max, I could watch the hole in the target appear on my crosshairs. Another positive, the cheek bag worked perfectly. The only downside today was there are only two lanes that have a larger table for shooting the rifles off a bag, and they were both occupied. I also found that shooting off a bipod is less stable than shooting off a bag. Note to self, buy a set of bags.

Well, back to the dynamic duo. I did some scope swapping today. I had a Vortex 6x24x50 Diamondback Tactical in the safe I forgot about, so I decided to standardize the brand across all my .22's. The new Vortex Copperhead 4x12x44 went on my Glenfield, replacing the Bushnell that was on it when I got it. It got zeroed yesterday and I will say, old guns are the best.

Thing 2 had the Sig Buckmaster 3x9x50 on it, but I wanted a scope that sat a little lower and with a bit more magnification to it, so I moved the Vortex 4x12x44 Diamondback Tactical from Thing 1 to Thing 2. This gives me a reason, not that I need one, to go shoot it tomorrow and verify the zero.

Since the top of Thing 1 was now empty, I installed the Vortex 6x24x50 Diamondback Tactical on it, which again gives me a reason to go shoot and verify zero on it.

Now I find myself with two scopes in need of a gun to go on. Does that mean I need to go out and buy a couple more .22's?

Thanks everyone, I doubt I'll win any precision shooting contest, but for plinking and little critter getter outings, I think they'll do fine. I've got grandson herding duties today, so I may go tomorrow and shoot one of the "tack" driver targets.

A bit of a delay on the range trip, hopefully tomorrow. I did do another update on Thing 2. It had a long rail mounted for the scope which was a bit tall. I removed it and installed a new set of the split rails which sit lower and ultimately brought my scope a little lower as well. My eye lines up with the scope far better now.

I also added a clamp-on bolt knob from Lost Nation R&D to Thing 1. That thing is awesome, larger and easy to manipulate! I may have to order another.
