What scope rings do you use?

I went through several sets of rings & a mount or 2 through the years. I was never 100% satisfied until I got these.

I use the Audēre PSR rings. They are modular, and have Anti-Slip Grooves machined in the circumference. I was super impressed with the packaging. Not that it matters, but when a company puts that little extra in, it’s telling.


Here are the Anti-Slip grooves. A very nice touch.


These are Italian made & it shows! Flawless design. Made of 7075-T6 Aluminum. They are 21mm wide & quite stout! With recoil lugs that sit against the Picatinny rail, and also have bubble levels for leveling reticle. For $149, I think they are one of the best choices available.

I never got too particular. Never really got into all the lapping or centering aside from a basic Wheeler kit. Normally I went with Leupold, Warne, DNZ or even a lot of Weaver......I'm a mediocre guy. For example.....Wild Turkey and a Miller High Life crowd and I'm in good company I can relate to.

On the few 1" and 30mm tube scopes that I still have, I mainly use Burris Signature Zee rings with the plastic inserts. They hold the scope tight, and leave zero ring marks on any scope.
On my 34mm and 40mm tube scopes, I use ARC M10 rings. They are the best rings that I've ever used. Not cheap, but then the scopes that they hold aren't either.

Burris Signature Zee rings. Never any ring marks on the scope, and can adjust MOA with the offset inserts if needed.
These rings and offset inserts were all but needed to square up some of the older actions that were either warped or drilled off center.

I, too, am very partial to Burris Signature Zee rings.
Thanks to the inserts, I have never had a scope marred by one of them.
Since most of my scopes cost well over $1,000, I want to protect them from scratches caused by rings.
Lots of ring height options to allow mounting my 56mm front optics, too.

I've used steel Leupold rings for my Savage, though for the cheaper rifles and/or optics they've got a line of aluminum that's not made in USA. My BCA budget AR upper with a Discovery scope has a set of those. Pretty sure that I am not skilled enough to notice a difference at this time, and it's BCA, so not exactly "match grade" anyways.

I to picked up a set of Monstrum modular rings, for an AKM project. These rings have exceptional build quality! They are either 34mm or 30mm with the inserts.


Monstrum has put some really good CHINESIUM products over the last few years. They are even making Scope Rings & Mounts in 7075 Aluminum.

Two things have happened over the last decade. First of all, Billet Aluminum cost has dropped compared to most other materials. I’m still paying the same price for Aluminum stock that I was paying 7 years ago! This must be due to production of Billet 6061 & 7075. The second happening has been cost of machining. CNC machining is SOOO incredibly good & also incredible EASY, that we are seeing exceptional quality for fractions of the price of other maker’s Scope Rings. Where as say, 15-20 years ago, all these low priced Ring sets were being made of that AWEFUL CHINESIUM “pot-metal”, (basically a low Aluminum/Zinc Allow), for the same prices as them, the rings are now 6061 Aluminum with almost perfect specs. While I still only trust any precision rifle to my top tier Auderé Rings, I will use Monstrum for AR’s, AKM’s, Rimfire or plinker guns.

That’s what we get for living in the future!

I thought about it, I think ALL my rifles except one have Monstrum rings. Including 3 cantilever mounts.

No. I was able to get mine from Amazon when they had a seller offering them. But now, in the United Stares, Auderé products are offered at MK Machining

There is one other mount I wouldn’t mind trying. I know professionals all go for the Spuhr mount, however, there is NO WAY I’m paying $500-$600 for a mount!

The Tier One Long Saddle mount, while still overpriced at $300, is still nowhere near the absurd pricing of the Spuhr! Made of 7075, also having the anti-slip grooves machined in, and solid design, make it a top shelf choice. Maybe one day.
