Axis 2 precision 308 loose action screws

I have fired about 800 rounds through my Axis 2 precision 308 with sub 1 MOA accuracy. Then suddenly, spread was huge, and I felt a very slight wobble of the barrel and receiver in the stock. I think the action screws have loosened. Has anyone had a similar problem?

It happens. Whenever I purchase a rifle, I always remove, clean & retorque the Action screws so I KNOW they are correct! Same goes for rings, Scope Rail, if I were to purchase a combo gun or used with scope already attached. Everything gets removed, cleaned/inspected & reinstalled with correct torque. I only trust my own work.

Glad to hear that. Read that action screws should be torqued to 65 in lbs because it's metal n metal.

For a Chassis yes. You have an Axis Precision, so it’s in the MDT Chassis, right? Yes, 65in.lbs. But honestly, at least 50in.lbs. is acceptable for Chassis. But certainly not wood stocks. Even if they are bedded with pillars. Not that much on synthetic either. Polymer or Glass. I wouldn’t go over 50in.lbs for Pillar bedded stocks. And sure, blue threadlock if you want.

Like mentioned above, you can use loctite, if it happens again....but the proper color. Its ussually red or blue but for your application you would want to use purple. And, like one ten says, always go over your torque specs on a new gun. Good luck.
Had my eye on your set up for awhile, how do you like it?

It's a relative inexpensive into to long range shooting. We are still trying to decide which factory ammo it prefers, either Hornady Match or Federal Sierra MatchKing. Have had good success with both. We have an inexpensive Viper scope, but we can shoot 1 MOA and can hit 8 in target at 550.

It is an MDT stock.

The upper one is what we have,

Yup. So yeah, that’s a Chassis. I know, I know. It’s kinda splittin’ hairs. Obviously it’s a Stock, so why call it a Chassis? Guess it’s sorta like Whiskey & Bourbon. Although ALL Bourbon IS Whiskey, not all Whiskey is Bourbon! So it is that all Chassis are indeed stocks, not all stocks can claim the name Chassis.

Could call it Six & Half-Dozen I guess. However, I believe it’s important for posterity’s sake.😉

By the way: Who is “We”? Are you doing that funny thing where a person uses “we” & “our”, instead of “I” & “my”? Speaking in First Person Plural, as it were? 😂

Although ALL Bourbon IS Whiskey
Unless it's mixed....then it's just an ingredient and a waste.....or if it's not made in KY.....that's just pure blasphemy ;)

I'm enjoying a pour of Wild Turkey Rare Breed at the moment....neat of course

KY bourbon is the USA thing to drink...kick all those "craft" bourbons to the curb.
