Replacement stocks for Mk2 .22 rifles?

At camp we have several Savage Mk2 bolt action .22 rifles, magazine fed, right handed standard barrel diameter. They all have the factory plastic stocks.

We also have two Mk2 rifles with colorful plastic stocks (camo)from the factory. We would like to replace the plain-jane black stocks.

Does anyone know of a source for replacement Mk2 stocks? Thanks.

Are you looking to put better stocks on them or to make them look better than the plain black stocks? If you're just wanting them to look better, a simple camo paint job is fairly easy and inexpensive. If this is for a youth camp, the camo doesn't need to be all dark and tacti cool, some brighter colors can be used to create the same patterns, and it's easy on the budget. This being said, the Boyds would be a very good choice if you're looking to upgrade the quality and performance.

I'm actually planning to paint one of my stocks while replacing the other. I'll try to add some pictures to show what I did which may give you an idea or two.

Well, it turned out better than I expected because I've never done one this way before. You could actually have your campers do this as a project, try some different colors, maybe some pink, orange, red, blue, the options are endless.

I used alcohol and some towels to clean any oil and dust off the surface.

I used a sponge that's made for texturing walls and cut it into several pieces. Starting with a light-colored tan, I sprayed a patch on some cardboard and dabbed up some with the first sponge then placed random dabs on the stock and let it dry for a few minutes. I then took another sponge and dabbed the stock with a light green sage, then finished it up with a darker forest green using the third sponge. I went back over it and hit a couple spots that had too much or too little. Once it was dry, I sprayed a couple light coats of matt clear over everything to seal it. The whole thing took me about half an hour.
